Peak Design Recognized in OUTSIDE’S Best Places to Work 2017

San Francisco (November 7, 2017) – Peak Design has been selected as one of OUTSIDE’s Best Places to Work 2017. Not only are winning companies great workplaces for employees, but they respect the environment and encourage a balance between work and enjoying life in the great outdoors.

“We have a business model where we’re not beholden to outside investors to make our decisions,” says marketing director Adam Saraceno. “We take part in shaping our company. There are times when we crank down,” says Saraceno, “and times when we go out and camp somewhere.”

“Companies from across the country entered a rigorous two-part survey process to make the winning list,” said Jonah Ogles, Articles Editor at OUTSIDE Magazine. “The Best Companies Group evaluates each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. There’s also an employee survey to measure personal experience.”

The winning companies are those that value productivity in combination with an active, eco-conscious lifestyle, for a fulfilling experience inside and outside the office. This is OUTSIDE’s tenth year providing the Best Places to Work.

Peak Design’s innovative approach to crowdfunding – $15m raised over seven campaigns and currently climbing ( – has allowed for a high level of operational freedom. Whereas some companies are limited by private investment, Peak Design has complete freedom to choose what’s best for its employees. From workplace flexibility to creative solutions for the environment (, Peak Design has made a commitment to “prioritize happiness over growth,” a tenant found in the company’s mission statement.

As the top ranked manufacturer on OUTSIDE’S BEST PLACES TO WORK (Peak Design ranked #12 overall), the recognition also validates the steps the company has taken to minimize social impact caused by production. After auditing its supply chain in 2016, the company gave 10% year-end bonuses to factory workers earning below a living wage. Having grown 100% year-over-year since its beginning, Peak Design has made a commitment to define success not just by dollars but by the health and happiness of the people that work for it, from production to design.

About Peak Design:

Peak Design began as a professional-grade camera accessory brand dedicated to engineering thoughtful solutions to improve the way photographers transport and manage their cameras. Born out of a successful Kickstarter project in 2011, Peak Design has returned to crowdfunding 6 times to bring over 20 innovative, durable products to likeminded photographers and adventurers. The company’s most recent Kickstarter project, the Everyday Line of bags, won over $6.5MM in funding, breaking category records and ushering Peak Design further into a new product category — carrying and bags. The San Francisco based company now designs products not just for photographers, but also travelers, commuters and the creative class. For more information, visit
