Petzl’s NAO headlamp with REACTIVE LIGHTING wins multiple outdoor industry awards for innovation
(Crolles, France) Petzl, leader in hands-free lighting, is proud to announce that its newly-launched headlamp, the NAO with REACTIVE LIGHTING, has won several outdoor industry awards for innovation, including the prestigious ISPO AWARD. The NAO was recognized by leading US outdoor magazine Outside with its Gear of the Show award at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market tradeshow in Salt Lake City, Utah. In addition, the influential gear blog, the Gear Junkie, gave the NAO a ‘Best in Show’ award.
Beyond Power…Intelligence
The NAO with REACTIVE LIGHTING technology by Petzl is the first headlamp that automatically adjusts brightness and beam pattern to meet users’ lighting needs. REACTIVE LIGHTING technology marks a significant leap forward in hands-free lighting, allowing users to focus on the activity at hand, as their headlamp adjusts seamlessly, instantly and imperceptibly.
These awards attest to the innovative, game-changing nature of this new product and technology that will change the way people interact with the darkness.
2012 ISPO AWARD
On January 24, in association of the ISPO trade show in Munich Germany, the NAO won the ISPO Product Award for the Outdoor segment in the Hardware Accesories category. The award “represents the best innovations and offers sport business professionals, the media and consumers a guide in the wide range of the sporting goods industry. †The jury of outdoor industry opinion leaders judged products based on innovation, design and performance.
“A headlamp that automatically adjusts brightness is really innovative and new to the market,†stated jury member Boris Gnielka of Motorpresse Stuttgart/outdoor-Magazin, Germany. “All of the other features, like recharging via USB, make the Petzl NAO really smart.â€

Outside Magazine’s Gear of the Show
The NAO was one of only five products to receive Outside Magazine’s Gear of the Show award at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, which took place January 19-22 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Editors for the magazine said that “the Nao could make manually adjusting your headlamp between tasks a thing of the past, and those sensors even increase burn time by dimming the light when you don’t need it,†calling the headlamp “the most high-tech headlamp we’ve ever seen.â€

Gearjunkie.com’s Best in Show
The Gear Junkie (www.gearjunkie.com) recognizes products that “represent true innovation in the outdoors industry and some of the neatest new gear ever made.â€
“We tested the NAO headlamp… in the dark woods on an XC ski outing one night after the trade show. Short story: It works. The “intelligent†beam saves on battery life by only using the needed light for any distance view, plus you won’t blast your eyes with 300-lumen bounce back if you glace from that proverbial cliff face above to a glossy map held in hand,†said Stephan Regenold, founder and editor of the Gear Junkie.
