Platypus today announced the release of the Big Zip LP, a new, low-profile version of its bestselling Big Zip SL hydration system. The 30 percent slimmer, streamlined design allows the reservoir to sit perfectly in a pack and help the pack fit better overall.
“The Big Zip reservoir has been a staff and customer favorite since its release as the industry’s first wide-mouth reservoir in the early 1990s. We made it even better with a new, low-profile design that lies flat against your back and eliminates the tendency of your pack’s back panel to bulge with a full reservoir,” said Erik Flink, director of Platypus Hydration and Filtration. “This design controls the shape of the reservoir, keeping it flat against your back and reduces sloshing.”
The new Big Zip LP reservoir features a BPA-free, taste-free design with a food-grade polyethylene interior and a lightweight yet durable polyurethane exterior. The interior is finished with a SlimeGuard™ Silver Ion antimicrobial treatment to keep the yucky stuff from colonizing and the wide-mouth opening makes it easy to fill, wash, and rinse. The bottom is conveniently fitted with a quick-release hose, allowing quick, easy removal from a pack to clean or refill without rerouting the hose.
All Platypus reservoirs are designed and manufactured in Platypus’ Seattle factory to meet exceptionally high standards for quality, ease-of-use, performance, and durability. The new Big Zip LP reservoir will be shown this summer at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, Utah. It will be available for purchase online and at retail stores in January 2014.
