POC wins series of ISPO Awards for new technology and safety

POC, which has built a reputation on safety, innovation and design, has won three ISPO awards for products and technology from its new 2020/21 snow collection. Starting with an ISPO ‘Gold winner’ award for a brand new and unique Dyneema® based cut-resistant, race base layer, ‘Base Armor’.
ISPO ‘Winner’ awards have been received for the Cornea Solar Switch a world-first snow sports goggle, which can instantly and automatically change tint based on light conditions, powered solely by the sun. And the POC Loft Parka, the ultimate down jacket for pre, during and post-ski protection and warmth, with a host of ski-specific details and design.

New Collection 2020/21
POC’s new 2020/21 collection also includes a host of new products, including the FIS approved Skull Dura Comp SPIN, which features the very first integrated race adjustment system, the ‘Race Lock’. The Skull Dura Comp SPIN highlights the updates to the entire Dura family of race helmets, which lead out a host of brand new race-focused products. These include hand, shin and forearm guards, a new range of race packs, a highly tuned Clarity lens for night racing, as well as a host of new ski race apparel.
The peerless Fornix SPIN helmet receives an update worthy of its iconic status and is complemented by the POCito Fornix NFC, a child’s helmet which integrates the award-winning NFC Medical ID chip technology. There are new additions to the Transit Collection, versatile apparel designed with superior fabrics to enhance the senses and make the most of downtime and everyday moments.

Season 2020/21 Product Details
ISPO Gold Winner – Base Armor
A base armor system to protect junior and adult ski racers from the abrasions and cut injuries typically associated with all ski racing. It is a layer system that maintains a high level of functionality through comfort, breathability, compression, warmth and wicking etc. It is unique, made entirely from single or double Dyneema® fabric which has been engineered and developed specifically for never seen before levels of strength, comfort and performance.
Dyneema® is one of the strongest fibers in the world, up to 15 times stronger than steel on a same-weight basis. A double layer of Dyneema® features in strategic zones around the neck and collar, under the arm and along the sleeves to further enhance cut protection. The rest of the jersey features a single layer to heighten protection and freedom of movement. A lycra lining inside the collar, seamless armpits and a zipper at the neck opening enhance comfort and usability.
ISPO winner – Loft Parka
The ultimate parka for pre, during and post-ski protection and warmth, with a host of ski-specific details and design. The Loft Parka is a skier’s best friend and has been designed and developed for the particular needs of skiers, be it pre-race or post-piste. It has been created with precise function and form so it serves its users perfectly. Warmth and protection is ensured via enhanced T-core fill and fluorocarbon-free waterproofing, while the helmet compatible hood, goggle pockets, ventilation and coverage have all been built around the specific needs of skiers.
ISPO winner – Cornea Solar Switch
A world-first solar-powered liquid crystal goggle lens that can change tint between VLT categories 2 and 3. The Solar-Switch, which provides a darker tint in sunnier conditions and instantly becomes lighter in shadow or cloud conditions, can significantly improve vision, safety and performance in changing weather, light conditions or environments, such as descending through wooded areas. Uniquely it has been developed to be powered only by the sun’s solar power, needing no battery or charging so it is sustainable, constant and reliable.
The Skull Dura Comp SPIN is a helmet at the pinnacle of ski race innovation and safety. Featuring a multi-impact liner, a hard shell with an enhanced VPD panel and aramid penetration zones, removable safety earpieces and a secure Fidlock buckle. The FIS approved helmet features the first-ever ‘Race Lock’, an integrated precision adjustment system which racers can tune for the exact feel and fit for a race run ensuring that nothing moves, even at extreme speeds.
The new children’s helmet, POCito Fornix NFC, has been developed to support getting the right help quickly after an accident. With a digital Medical information NFC ID chip integrated in the helmet, anyone with a smartphone will be able to retrieve the information at the scene of an injury in an instant, potentially helping medical professionals make the best judgments for treatment. The POCito collection is also expanded with a POCito Obex SPIN and a POCito Opsin goggle.
Virtually the entire ‘Race Stuff’ collection is new or updated. The collection of race-related apparel and protection covers everything racers need for training and competition. From precisely designed bags and packs that can carry all ski-related belongings, warm and protective outer layers for warm-up while waiting for training or race runs, to skin suits and body armor for the performance and safety needed in a race run.
