Steamboat, Colo. –(Sept. 9, 2010) – Point6, designer and manufacturer of premium merino wool performance socks, is sponsoring Peak 7 Adventures by donating brand new socks for at risk youth to wear on outdoor excursions.

Based in Washington, Peak 7 Adventures is a grassroots, non-profit organization that emphasizes outdoor and environmental education for at-risk youth, teaching respect for the outdoors through experiential learning.

Peak 7 whitewater rafting and kayaking, rock climbing and backpacking trips challenge and encourage individuals and promote all-around healthier lifestyles. Participants have the opportunity to explore new possibilities for personal growth, while experiencing nature in a fun learning environment. So far in 2010, Peak 7 has served over 1703 kids, totaling nearly 25,000 service hours in the Northwest.

“We are proud to support organizations that help at-risk youth make positive life changes,” said Betsy Seabert, international sales and marketing director for Point6. “Today’s kids are faced with so many negative influences and getting out into nature, pushing their limits mentally and physically, can help turn these kids around.”

Peak 7 depends on donations from organizations like Point6 to provide the gear and clothing necessary to outfit their students for success in the backcountry. Point6 will provide its compact spun, premium merino socks to ensure a comfortable experience thanks to the socks precise anatomical fit and thermo-regulating moisture management properties. Point6 socks will help keep the kids’ feet dry and blister-free so they can focus on their goals, and not on painful feet.

“Most of our students have never experienced hiking let alone backpacking,” said Peak 7’s sponsorship coordinator, Loran Kerrigan. “A good pair of socks can definitely make (or break) your day on the mountain. Thanks to Point6, our participants will be much more comfortable and equipped to make it to the top of the mountain.”
