Charlotte, NC – In POLARGUARD® brand is celebrating 35 years as the leading brand for synthetic batting used as insulation in sleeping bags and outerwear. Established in 1973 as a premium polyester fiberfill batting out outdoor products, POLARGUARD® continuous filament fiberfill continues to set the standard for durability, loft and thermal efficiency in bags and cold weather apparel. Through the years POLARGUARD® fiberfill product line has included POLARGUARD® Classic, the original product; POLARGUARD® HV, the high void hollow fiberfill; POLARGUARD® 3D, a finer denier and most compressible product; and POLARGUARD® Delta super void fiberfill.
POLARGUARD® continuous filament fiberfill is manufactured by INVISTA, one of the world’s largest producers and marketers of premium fibers, resins, and intermediates. INVISTA has recently completed a multi-million dollar investment in the continuous filament fiber operation, and has installed state-of-the-art equipment to convert the fiber into batting. “We are now fully integrated from polymer to fiber to batting,†said Paul Latten, vice president of INVISTA Textile Fibers. “We are excited to enter this new phase as a lead supplier of continuous filament fibers and batting to the outdoor industry and the U.S. Military.â€
POLARGUARD® batting is produced from continuous polyester filament, which gives it a distinct advantage over cut staple batting. POLARGUARD® batting has great warmth per unit weight and is resistant to separating, which can produce lumps and cold spots. Sleeping bags and apparel filled with POLARGUARD® batting offer exceptional durability and thermal efficiency, even in cold, wet conditions.
“This is an important milestone for the POLARGUARD® brand,†said Latten. “INVISTA is committed to the brand and polyester continuous filament. We are positioned to grow the business with new and innovative products.â€
