As we enter the fall season, we also enter the season for some of the best running races of the year. New York City Marathon, Philadelphia Marathon, Bimblers Bluff 50k. Well, maybe the Bimblers Bluff 50k does not carry the same clout these big city races do, but for ultra-runners, it is one of the more exciting races of the season. PORON® Cushioning is proud to sponsor the race for the third consecutive year, which for the first time is being recognized as the USATF Connecticut Ultra Championship.
The Bimblers Bluff 50K will take place in southern Connecticut on Sunday, October 23 and winds through several off road, inter-connected woodland areas. The course consists entirely of single track and forest roads, which tests the physical as well as mental toughness of all competitors. The race has sold out the previous three years and the 2011 race is sure to sell out again.
Being recognized as a state ultra-championship, it has raised the bar on an already stacked field of elite athletes. Jerry Turk, Event Race Director states “This race has grown so much over the years and we are very proud to be awarded the state ultra championship. We are anticipating top athletes from around the country to compete, which will almost guarantee record setting times on the course.â€
PORON® Performance Cushioning, a licensed trademark of Rogers Corporation, has partnered with the event for the past two years and is ecstatic to be on board in 2011. “The Bimblers Bluff has been a great partnership and we are excited for the opportunity to be a part of a USATF Championship†states Dave Sherman, Business Development Manager for PORON Cushioning. “The event allows us to talk to a core group of ultra runners about our insole materials as well as tell them about our other products such as helmets, work books, baseball gloves and protective equipment, where PORON Cushioning materials can be found.â€
PORON Products are created to absorb shock in high impact areas and also provide maximum comfort to the user. Who better to see and test the product then someone running a 50k trail run? PORON Cushioning is also durable, so they will not wear or break down like other typical insole materials.
The Bimblers Bluff 50K started out as an idea during a training run, but has evolved into one of the highlight races of the season for many ultra runners. The race draws runners from over 15 different states and is guaranteed to have a waiting list for its fourth consecutive year.
As part of its partnership, the PORON Cushioning staff will be on-site providing product demonstrations, holding a sweepstakes to win premium-running insoles from its partners at MasterFit Enterprises, and distributing free gear to all who stop by its booth.
