Portland Track Festival to Feature “ElliptiGO Mile” Competition

Portland, OR (June 6, 2013)— ElliptiGO Inc., creators of the world’s first elliptical bicycle, today announced that the 2013 Portland Track Festival will feature a one-mile ElliptiGO race on the running track. 2003 USA Steeplechase champion Steve Slattery will take on two-time USAT Duathlete of the Year Paul Thomas in the men’s division. The women’s division will feature 2011 USATF 25K Champion Molly Pritz challenging 2012 NCAA Division II Track Athlete of the Year and current ElliptiGO mile record-holder, Betsy Graney. The winner of each race will be awarded $1,000 in prize money.

“With increasing numbers of collegiate and professional athletes adopting the ElliptiGO as part of their training regimen, we knew it was just a matter of time before they’d want to start racing them on the track,” stated Bryan Pate, Co-Founder and Co-President of ElliptiGO. “After introducing this new style of racing at the Re:Run track meet earlier this summer, we are really excited to bring this event to Portland and give the crowd another thrilling event to watch on Saturday.”

Since its introduction in 2010, the ElliptiGO has become the cross-training tool of choice for more than 70 elite athletes as well as dozens of university and professional teams around the world. The ElliptiGO Mile at the Portland Track Festival is one of five ElliptiGO-only events taking place in 2013. Others include the ElliptiGO Double in Colorado, the New England ElliptiGO Summer Classic in Massachusetts, and the World Championships of Elliptical Cycling in California.

The sixth annual Portland Track Festival is set to take place on Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8 at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon.
