GLENDALE, Calif. (September 10, 2007) — PowerBar announces an open call for applications for the 2008-2009 PowerBar Team Eliteâ„¢ athlete sponsorship program. Individual and team sport athletes, coaches, nutritionists, trainers and health and fitness influencers across all disciplines and competitive levels are invited to visit www.powerbar.com/teamelite/application to submit their application. The company will accept applications through November 4, 2007 and announce 2008-2009 PowerBar Team Elite members in February 2008.
2008 will mark the twenty-first year for the company’s bi-annual athletic sponsorship program, which identifies and partners with more than 5,000 PowerBar brand ambassadors each year across the U.S. who demonstrate and communicate a passion and commitment to sport. Whether through personal success in competition or in serving as a dynamic and positive athletic influencer within their community, the PowerBar Team Elite program seeks individuals and teams who embody the PowerBar brand through athletic achievements and exemplary sportsmanship.
The company helps PowerBar Team Elite athletes perform at their best by supplying PowerBar nutritional energy food products as well as PowerBar-branded gear and apparel for training and competition. In addition, PowerBar Team Elite members are provided with tools to help promote themselves and their sport within their communities. In exchange, these athletes represent the spirit of PowerBar and work to educate the public about sports nutrition and the nutritional benefits of the PowerBar® Performance System of products.
The current 2007 PowerBar Team Elite roster includes thousands of sponsored athletes and instructors from more than twenty athletic disciplines, including baseball, football, soccer, swimming, track and field, cycling, triathlon, golf, surfing, skiing/snowboarding and personal fitness training. Current team members include triathletes Hunter Kemper and Joanna Zeiger, surfer Chris Waring, and U.S. Olympic track and field sprinters Allyson Felix and James Carter.
