ALBANY, New York — (March 27, 2012)PrimaLoft®, the premier manufacturer of performance insulations and yarns, is proud to sponsor “National Geographic Adventure: Greatest Stories Ever Told,” a thrilling new iPad app developed from National Geographic magazine’s archives. The new app features amazing stories of explorers at the moment of discovery, and their adventures on journeys around the world.

PrimaLoft® is featured worldwide in leading outdoor brands including The North Face, Rab, Patagonia, L.L. Bean and Under Armour as the performance insulation and yarn of choice for adventure gear and apparel. This partnership with National Geographic Adventure to launch the new “Greatest Stories Ever Told” iPad App is part of PrimaLoft®’s commitment to supporting outdoor adventure and exploration. This new app brings adventures around the world to life through extraordinary photography, video and top-notch journalism. The Greatest Stories Ever Told app is now available in the iTunes store for $1.99.

“The app offers viewers a chance to experience global exploration and adventure like never before,” said Eileen Berner, sales and marketing director, PrimaLoft®. “This interactive social experience enables thousands of adventurers an opportunity to learn more about the benefits of PrimaLoft® high performance insulations and yarns.”

In addition to the launch of the app, PrimaLoft® announces a Facebook contest called, “Your Greatest Adventure Sweepstakes”. Entrants will have an opportunity to submit a photo and caption of their greatest adventures for a chance to win a choice of three great adventures and a gear prize pack powered by PrimaLoft®. The contest will begin on June 20, 2012 and run until August 20, 2012.

The app uses the full capabilities of tablet technology with video, photography, interactive mapping and more to reinvent how adventure stories are told. The feature content for “National Geographic Adventure: Greatest Stories Ever Told” includes:

  • Explorer-in-Residence Robert Ballard discovers the Titanic’s final resting place.
  • Meet the nominees for Adventurers of 2011 and watch them in action.
  • Alex Honnold scales both Half Dome and El Capitan — without ropes.
  • Track Will Steger’s team with an interactive map on their Trans-Antarctic journey, and experience -50ËšF temps at the “bottom of the world” through raw video footage.
  • Descend inside the Congo’s Nyiragongo Volcano with scientists to study a belching, fuminglava lake — in hopes of saving the million and growing population of Goma.
  • Plunge deep into the blue holes of the Bahamas with cave-diving scientists in search of clues to early life on Earth.

“We are truly excited about the launch of this new app,” said Claudia Malley, executive vice president and worldwide publisher, National Geographic Global Media. “The technology is cutting edge and we have been able to push the limits of our storytelling abilities with the addition of audio, video and photos that leap off the page.”
