ALBANY, NY (June 27, 2013) – PrimaLoft (www.primaloft.com), the world leader in high-performance insulations and fabrics used in top outdoor and fashion brands, home furnishings, work wear, hunting and military applications, today announces it has joined The Conservation Alliance (www.conservationalliance.com), a group of outdoor businesses committed to protecting wild places throughout North America.
The Conservation Alliance has nearly 25 years of experience funding projects throughout North America that help protect areas for their habitat and recreational values. PrimaLoft’s participation will add to the Alliance’s ability to support conservation projects, and the company will collaborate with The Conservation Alliance members to increase overall participation in the organization.
“We are honored when companies like PrimaLoft, with such an established commitment to the outdoor enthusiast, join our efforts,” said John Sterling, executive director of the Conservation Alliance. “PrimaLoft is an industry leader, and with so many conservation opportunities throughout North America, we’re confident their involvement will help us make a difference.”
PrimaLoft’s membership will provide additional support to projects chosen by the members of The Conservation Alliance. Alliance members vote to decide which conservation projects to fund annually. Since its inception in 1989, the Alliance has contributed nearly $12 million to grassroots conservation groups throughout North America. Alliance funding has helped save more than 42 million acres of wildlands; protect 2,748 miles of rivers; stop or remove 25 dams; designate five marine reserves; and purchase nine climbing areas.
“As a performance brand steeped in the outdoor market, it is important to us to do more to protect our invaluable wildlife areas,” said Mike Joyce, president and chief executive officer at PrimaLoft. “The Conservation Alliance has proven time and time again that its initiatives work to protect our natural playgrounds. We look forward to nurturing this partnership and hope our participation inspires other companies to support its mission.”
Originally developed for the U.S. Army as a water-resistant alternative down, the PrimaLoft® brand is recognized as the benchmark in performance insulations and yarns, providing unsurpassed warmth in wet conditions.
