PrimaLoft Launches Continuous Filament Insulation, PrimaLoft Infinity

Albany, NY – After extensive development, PrimaLoft is launching a new insulation technology – PrimaLoft Infinity. PrimaLoft Infinity is a fine denier continuous filament insulation. The new insulation is designed for sleeping bags to offer greater loft and shelf appeal while providing the technical properties for which PrimaLoft insulation is renowned. It will be introduced at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, January 22-25, 2009 in Salt Lake City, UT (booth # 39043) and ISPO Winter Market 09, February 1-4 in Munich, Germany (hall A5 booth # 101).

PrimaLoft Infinity complements PrimaLoft’s existing product line, which includes PrimaLoft One, PrimaLoft Sport, PrimaLoft Eco and PrimaLoft Eco Footwear. They are all fine denier staple fiber insulations that provide warmth without bulk and are used in garments, gloves and footwear.

“While PrimaLoft Sport has been successfully used in warm weather sleeping bags, there was a need for a high loft performance product,” says Eileen Berner, PrimaLoft sales and marketing director, North America. “After years of effort, the R & D team engineered PrimaLoft Infinity to fill this market opportunity.”

Current market suppliers produce in the US and PrimaLoft Infinity is manufactured in Asia. This advantage reduces production timetables and represents savings in cost and energy of shipping raw materials across the Pacific Ocean.

“Preliminary testing shows that PrimaLoft Infinity has a greater warmth to weight ratio and is more compressible than what is available in the market,” adds Berner. “It also has a more consistent fiber construction to eliminate cold spots.”

For Spring 2009, Eastern Mountain Sports will introduce PrimaLoft Infinity into its Boreal Series line of sleeping bags (Boreal 40 and Boreal 20).
