The Haute – Gaspésie Avalanche Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving avalanche safety in Quebec, Canada. Established in 1999, the center has been funded over the years with the support of federal and regional partners of the outdoor industry. Based in a notoriously harsh environment with strong winds, bitter cold and damp conditions, the Chic- Choc Mountains provide a wonderful winter playground.
The Haute – Gaspésie Avalanche Center focuses on understanding public knowledge, research and development and forecasting avalanches in the Chic-Choc Mountains to ultimately reduce the risk of accidents and save lives. They also provide avalanche courses for those looking to get out and enjoy the backcounty in the Chic-Choc Mountains.
