New site presents millions of American cyclists with event ideas, expert advice, and community involvement

Kent, WA. (April 14, 2011) – In an effort to connect the nearly 60 million American cyclists with popular bicycle charity rides that occur in the US each year, Raleigh America today launched mycyclingevent.com, a site which facilitates partnership between local riders, shops, and knowledgeable retail staff throughout the training season. The new site offers an untapped aspect of community and outreach to heighten awareness and encourage participation at a local level. Hundreds of thousands of cyclists annually participate in charity rides to benefit multiple health and community causes, such as the popular MS Society and Tour-de-Cure rides.

Upon first visiting the website, riders can search out or post new charity rides, receive training tips and tracking assistance with GPS and routing, and find nutrition tips and gear suggestions from industry experts. Additionally, a community section provides an online hub for riders to share stories, videos, pictures and other thoughts on community involvement.

Raleigh has initially partnered with four national rides, including the Seattle-to-Portland (benefitting the Cascade Bicycle Club), the Palo Alto and Salt Lake City Tour-de-Cure and (benefiting the American Diabetes Association), and finally the Cleveland MS 150: Pedal to the Point (benefitting the MS Society). The MS and Tour-de-Cure rides are the largest in the nation, with nearly 100,000 riders at each, and will all be included with the launch of the site. Riders are encouraged to add any events they are aware of that are not initially posted, and to partake in the mycyclingevent.com community to raise awareness for each.

Mycyclingevent.com will officially launch in conjunction with the June edition of Bicycling Magazine, which hits racks on May 3. For a limited time Raleigh is committing to donate $50 to a charity-ride of choice for any cyclist who purchases a new Raleigh Revenio or Capri bike, which are optimal and affordable choices for distance rides.
