Ray Ferrand is Sales Agent for Sherpa Adventure Gear as Mid-Atlantic and New England
Sales Veteran is an Outdoor Industry Leadership Award Winner and past-Eastern Outdoor Reps Association President

KENT, WASHINGTON, USA and KATHMANDU, NEPAL—November 14, 2013—Sherpa Adventure Gear is pleased to announce that sales and outdoor industry veteran Ray Ferrand has joined its sales team, effective immediately. Ferrand’s territory for Sherpa Adventure Gear spans the New England and Mid-Atlantic states from Maine to north of Virginia, including Washington, D.C. He’ll collaborate with North American Sales Director Bill Chandler, who joined Sherpa Adventure Gear in April of this year.
About joining Sherpa Adventure Gear, Ferrand said, “I was aware of the brand in name only but didn’t know of the company’s authentic and true connection to the Sherpa people and culture. I became very interested as I learned about the charitable and entrepreneurial start up work they are doing in Nepal. I was all in when I felt the sincerity of founder Tashi Sherpa and saw the technical direction the brand is developing.”
Ferrand got his start with Paragon Sporting Goods in New York in 1973, later becoming General Manager and Divisional Merchandising Manager until his departure in 1986 to form Ferrand Associates. He’s twice been the Board President of the Eastern Outdoor Reps Association, and in 2001, was awarded the Outdoor Industry Association’s Leadership Award in the sales representatives category. Of his long tenure in the business, Ferrand says he has been fortunate to “be associated with some of the greatest brains in the outdoor industry.” Over the years, he has worked first hand with teams that created technical fabric and clothing innovations, as well as modern tent and pack designs.
Ferrand Associates also currently represents ENO, Point6, TrekSta, Perfect Storm, Snow Peak and Tilley hats. His territory for Sherpa Adventure Gear encompasses the Mid-Atlantic states and the District of Columbia (MD, DE, NJ, NY, PA) and along with Bill Chandler, the New England states (CT, RI, MA, NH, VT, ME).
Ray Ferrand can be reached at 516-216-5801 or via ray@ferrandassociates.com. He is based in New Hyde Park, New York.

In the highest reaches of the Himalayas, the Sherpa people lead the world in mountaineering with warmth, grace and good humour. Tashi Sherpa—upon discovering that his uncles assisted Sir Edmund Hilary’s celebrated 1953 expedition to the summit of Everest—founded Sherpa Adventure Gear in 2003 to honour his people by creating the best quality outdoor apparel made in Nepal. The company employs hundreds in Kathmandu and Nepal at its headquarters, stores and manufacturing operations. Marketing and North American sales and distribution is based in Kent, Washington. A portion of every sale benefits the education of Sherpa children through the Paldorje Education Fund, an IRS 501(c)(3) charitable arm the company established in May 2012.
