Reinvented Patagonia Yoga Collection Makes Its Debut In Spring 2013

Designed By and For Patagonia’s Ambassadors, the Committed Yogi Now Will Now Find a Dedicated Yoga Offering From Patagonia, Premiering in Spring 2013.

VENTURA, Calif. (July, 2012) — Patagonia Inc., the outdoor apparel company, announces today the launch of a brand new collection of yoga products for the Spring 2013 season. For years, the Patagonia woman has worn the outdoor brand’s stretchier sportswear styles to yoga class. This Spring 2013, Patagonia’s first official yoga collection makes it’s debut, embodying a beautifully clean style, unsurpassed quality and unrestricted mobility. Created by and for Patagonia’s climb and surf ambassadors, who maintain a dedicated yoga practice on the side, the reinvented yoga collection includes both synthetic and natural fabrications that promote mobility, support and quality.

“Yoga is the biggest market opportunity since dresses for Patagonia,” notes Helena Barbour, business unit director for sportswear, “The customer is looking for styles with great fit, and high-quality fabrics that crossover from yoga to street. Our collection fits that bill.”

The entirely new yoga collection boasts nine top options, and six bottoms. The Graviti Pullover is a move-with-you, layering pullover in a soft organic cotton blended with Tencel. The T-Back Top provides support and movement, made from a super soft organic cotton with a touch of spandex. For those who prefer synthetics, the company offers the new Frontside Tank, made from a moisture-wicking blend of polyester and spandex. Patagonia offers a robust new yoga bottoms program with the Pliant collection. Options include a tight, capri, knicker and short that are made from a nylon/spandex blend that wicks moisture and are gusseted for mobility. Since 1996, Patagonia has used only organic cotton in the line, and the entire yoga collection is recyclable through the companies Common Threads Recycling Program.

“Just to be able to quiet the mind for a short amount of time can be completely balancing,” notes Lydia Zamorano, climber, yogi and friend of Patagonia, “I feel like yoga really helps my bouldering in particular because of all the high-stepping involved and strengthening of the deeper core muscles. Yoga gives me the tools I need to continually rebalance.”
