Midwest Mountaineering owner and founder, Rod Johnson, was recognized for his ultralight backpacking technique and gear research in a Star-Tribune article last week. Johnson hiked over 1000 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail this summer with a 9-Pound Pack. There’s no disputing his ultralight methods are unorthodox and ingenious – bubble wrap sleeping pad, anyone? For the entire article: http://tinyurl.com/yf42v9m. For a recount of his entire hike: http://rodspct.blogspot.com. Johnson will recount his trip and present his findings in a two hour show at Midwest Mountaineering’s Winter Outdoor Adventure Expo on Saturday, November 21st, 10:30am.
