Denver, CO – Rudy Project, Italian crafters of performance eyewear, helmets and sports equipment, are excited to announce the latest addition to their North American team: Sports Marketing Coordinator Amanda Cyr. As an athlete herself, Amanda will help Rudy Project in the vital role of ensuring sponsored athletes from every sport have access to the most technically advanced equipment for training and competition. Furthermore, Amanda’s inspirational background enables to her truly empathize with those who exercise their passion through sports and athletics.
“It is a great honor for Amanda to join our Denver Team as the Sponsorship Coordinator working with our VIP / BRO teams,” said Paul Craig, Co-Founder and CEO of Rudy Project North America and R.A.C.E . “Amanda is an inspiration to us all. After meeting for the first time I knew her passion, drive, commitment and love of sports was a perfect fit working with Rudy Project’s amazing sponsored teams, athletes and organizations. And being able to work closely with our Public Relations team in Denver will be a huge asset as sponsored athlete ambassadors get the word out on Rudy Project sunglasses, helmets, prescription eyewear, bags and technologies.
In 2008, Amanda Cyr moved to Colorado in pursuit of the American Dream: endless access to craft beer and 300 days of Rocky Mountain sunshine. But as she settled into her new home on the Rockies, Amanda’s health began to decline. Under the assumption that she was experiencing intense and prolonged altitude sickness, she visited a doctor. After running some lab tests, Amanda’s prognosis came back much more fatal than expected. At 358 pounds, Amanda’s liver was suffering, and it was killing her.
At only 26 years old, Amanda was living a non-active, junk food consuming, and heavy drinking lifestyle. Amanda’s doctor warned her that if she did not radically change her current habits, she would ultimately find herself on a nasty medical journey that could lead to premature death. As the world around her came to a stop, Amanda realized she had no choice but to save her own life.
Through her doctor’s supervision, Amanda began her transformation. Holidays passed, birthdays passed, and unlike a failed New Year’s resolution, she never gave up. But as someone who let their life revolve around food, Amanda found herself obsessing over not eating. In order to realign her focus, Amanda channeled her energy into sports.

Late at night on a barren street, Amanda made her first attempt at running. At the time Amanda could not run even one city block, but once again, she never gave up. Three months later, Amanda ran her first 5k. Five months later, she ran her first marathon. “I attribute the marathon to so many things, including helping my self-confidence and self-worth,” Amanda shared. “As much as I loved running, I was hungry to try new athletic endeavors, which is why I started cycling.”
Shortly after receiving her first bike, Amanda was hooked in a whole new way. She joined a local women’s cycling team, and jumped head first into criteriums, time trials, road races, mountain biking, and even cyclocross. But at the end of the day, Amanda fell in love with track cycling. “Track cycling is definitely where my heart is, mainly in the sprint events,” said Amanda. “Raw power, pure speed, and all the adrenaline, please and thank you!” In 2014, Amanda was the Colorado Track Cup Cyclist of the Year and Rocky Mountain State Games Track Cup Winner.
With 175 pounds lifted from her shoulders, Amanda is now a happier and healthier person. “I came to Rudy because I love their commitment to sponsoring not only the best of the best, but also the weekend warrior and age grouper,” Amanda noted. “My passion is health and fitness, as well as helping others discover their true strength through sport.”
As Rudy Project’s new Sport Marketing Coordinator, Amanda will be interfacing with athletes on all levels on a daily basis. Her passion for athletics and helping others achieve their goals makes her the perfect fit for this position.
As Amanda’s journey at Rudy Project begins, so are her upcoming athletic endeavors. “I’ve never raced a triathlon, so I’m starting swim lessons at the end of the month. Climbing, standup padding boarding, rowing, archery, why not? Seriously, I want to try it all.”
“Expect a call or email in the coming weeks from Amanda as she gets into the flow of things. “ Craig noted, “And I am sure you will be as happy working with her as we are!”
