Rudy Project, a dominant force in the world of triathlon, is looking to reign supreme yet another year as LAVA Magazine’s #1 Most Worn Helmet at the IRONMAN® World Championship. For the last six consecutive years, the toughest triathletes in the world have trusted Rudy Project helmets on the biggest race day of their lives, relying on the industry’s most aerodynamically efficient, well-ventilated, lightweight, and undeniably fast aero/TT and road helmets.
“Coming into what could be year seven, we’re very excited and optimistic,” said Paul Craig, President and Co-Founder of Rudy Project North America. “The Wing57 is getting better reviews than ever from our athletes with the new flip up visor, and this year we expect to see the Boost 01 road aero helmet out on hundreds of racers. Triathletes love our product, our industry leading warranties, and all the innovation and technology packed into each helmet. We strive to make sure that our athletes are getting the most out of our gear and that it exceeds their expectations, because their trust and dedication means everything to us.”
Over the past 6 years, over 3000 athletes in total have worn Rudy Project helmets to race on the Big Island, outstripping the nearest competitor’s aggregate numbers by 1200+ athletes. The Wing57 full aero/TT helmet looks to be a popular choice, with IRONMAN Cairns 2017 champion Sarah Crowley and Andy Potts wearing the aerodynamic lid. Heather Jackson, who stood on the women’s podium in Kona last year and is a favorite to win this year, will go with her tried and true Wing57 in a custom paint job, while Sarah Piampiano is looking to sport the Boost 01 road aero.
The Wing57 has been the subject of some buzz lately. Rudy Project North America offered all existing Wing57 customers a flip up visor over the summer to ensure they were riding in the best, most versatile helmet. The new flip up visor is a vast improvement – more secure, and faster through T1. But it’s looking like the Boost 01, which also sports a flip-up visor, will be the star of the show. The road aero helmet has received rave reviews from Triathlete Magazine, Endurance Review, and Active.com. The Boost01 will be available at the Rudy Project Village at Uncle Billy’s in a rainbow of colors, ranging from Fluo Yellow, Titanium, Stealth Matte to the ever-popular Pink Fluo, to name a few.
The pressure is on…do you think we can do it again? Make sure to stay updated on all the biggest Kona news, including the LAVA Magazine Helmet Count, by following us on our social media channels.
All of us at Rudy Project wish every competitor has the best race possible and best of luck. To experience Kona is truly special, and magic happens every year. Here’s to Kona!
