BOULDER, Colo. – Spyder Active Sports, Inc., the Colorado-based manufacturer of premium technical ski and lifestyle apparel, has announced the promotion of Russ Rowan to Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales for North America.
Rowan joined Spyder in August of 2009 and reports directly to Tom McGann, Spyder’s CEO. His background includes positions at other worldwide performance apparel and action sport brands including Helly Hansen, Burton, and O’Neill. Before re-joining at Spyder, McGann and Rowan had previously worked together at Burton.
Commented Rowan: “The Spyder brand has made some huge leaps in the past few years with a solid team supporting the growth we have experienced in difficult market conditions. Honestly, it’s been amazing to witness first hand what we’ve accomplished in the way of better product mix, clear marketing direction, establishing solid marketing partners such as 3M Thinsulate Insulation, Audi, and Carlsberg (just to name a few), and most of all, working with the most passionate and dedicated sales force in the industry. We still have plenty of ground to cover, but all the gears are turning and this machine never stops. Progress. Push.“
“Russ has brought incredible creative energy and drive to Spyder. His efforts have reenergized the brand’s DNA. In three short years Russ has brought a fresh Spyder identity to market globally, cemented partnerships with several other premium image brands and organizations, and completely restructured the sales and marketing teams. His rapid pace of change has driven Spyder to three consecutive years of growth in an extremely challenging global economy,” added McGann.
The appointment was effective January 1, 2013. Rowan is based at Spyder’s Boulder, Colorado headquarters.
