Salewa Introduces Ultra Train GTX, The First Mountain Training Shoe with Michelin® Outsole and Gore-Tex® Protection

The Ultra Train GTX is designed for mountain training, no matter what the weather and terrain conditions. Developed with MICHELIN® Technical Soles, the shoe provides excellent traction and control, and keeps your feet dry in rainy and wet conditions.

Bolzano, Italy – January 4th, 2016 – All over the world, people have a renewed interest in a better quality of life that combines fitness, body and mind. They go walking, they run, they work out in the gym. They’re on the move – they’re training. Mountains are an inspiring playground and the perfect place to train. No matter if your mountain training involves fast pace hiking, running on technical, rocky trails or uphill intervals sessions – the goal remains the same: to improve your personal performance and endurance, while getting physically and mentally stronger.

 For FW16, SALEWA is introducing the Ultra Train GTX, the first waterproof shoe designed specifically for mountain training, a growing trend in outdoor activities. Based on the successful Ultra Train, the Ultra Train GTX offers two main benefits. The first is excellent traction and grip, due to the MICHELIN® technical outsole, optimized for hard-pack terrain, as found during colder seasons in the mountains. The second is the Motion Guidance construction, which use different EVA foam densities in the midsole, to provide support and promote natural movement even in long training sessions. In addition, the GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort lining provides reliable protection from rain and water and excellent breathability, keeping your feet dry and comfortable.

 “Mountain training is SALEWA’s unique interpretation for hiking and training,” explains Tobias Roth, Sales & Marketing Manager Footwear Division at SALEWA. “The Ultra Train GTX is our latest product in this segment. It uses GORE-TEX® protection to allow mountain enthusiasts to enjoy the mountains regardless of the season and weather conditions. We developed the shoe in our footwear R&D facilities in Montebelluna. Together with MICHELIN®, we designed an exclusive combination of performance compound outsole and midsole to exactly match the DNA of the Ultra Train GTX for total grip and stability when training in the mountains.”

MICHELIN®’s Ultra Train outsole, developed exclusively with SALEWA, features a fine-tuned design. Different sculptures and tread blocks are placed at specific areas to provide excellent slope-crossing traction, adaptability on different grounds and a fast run on hard-packed terrains. The design, inspired by MICHELIN® mountain bike tires, also includes a longitudinal deep groove which enables the sole to adapt for better ground contact.

 The Ultra Train GTX will be available in the shops from next August in two color variations for men and one for women, completing the mountain training line-up, which already includes the Lite Train and Ultra Train models.
