Salewa North America Strengthens Its Marketing Team


BOULDER, COLORADO: Salewa North America, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Salewa International based in Bolzano Italy, proudly announces the expansion of its Marketing team. With the rapid growth of the backcountry skiing and technical hiking markets, Salewa has named Jamie Starr as its new Marketing Manager. Starr hails from Boulder-based ski and active lifestyle apparel brand Spyder Active Sports, where he oversaw brand communications, digital and social media initiatives, and a host of other brand-building endeavors as Marketing Manager.

Starr brings a rich and diverse mix of skills and past experience, along with a life-long passion for skiing, which was cultivated in his hometown of Crested Butte, CO. With both J.D. and undergraduate degrees from the University of Colorado, he was natural pick for the Boulder based company. Just prior to joining the team, Starr was the Managing Director at Human Design, a digital agency in Boulder specializing in the design and development of web based tools for clients devoted to moving the human race. Starr is a dedicated backcountry skier, cyclist, foodie, and connoisseur of emerging technology, social media, and all things cool.

“We have always been focused on brand identity and unifying our products with our clients,” said Chris Sword, President of Salewa North America. “This is first time that the North American team will have a role purely focused on long term marketing strategy across all four of the Salewa brands to deliver our brands’ messages.”

Starr, himself, added: “It is with great excitement that I join the Salewa team during a time when its brands are carrying such great momentum in the outdoor industry. All four – Dynafit, Salewa, Wild Country, and Pomoca – are driven by a truly innovative and global vision, and the sky’s the limit as far as what we can achieve.”

Salewa footwear, the industry’s fasting growing brand in technical hiking; Dynafit, the world’s only full-time, full-line backcountry brand; Wild Country, the most recognized name in climbing; and Pomoca, producers of innovative and reliable Swiss climbing skins will rely heavily on Starr’s deep connection to the outdoor world to resonate with endemic and non-endemic media, specialty retailers, and an engaged social media audience.
