Salewa Prepares For The Outerlocal Summer Games

Boulder Colorado – On Saturday, July 7, Snow King will become the focal point of The Outerlocal Summer Games, an adventure festival for mountain athletes. Climbers, runners, mountain bikers and paragliders will join Salewa and other outdoor industry companies, nonprofits organizations, food vendors and musicians for what organizers are calling “a party for the living”. The Games are the brainchild of Outerlocal founder Christian Beckwith. Beckwith, a Teton mountaineer and 18-year Jackson resident, says the idea of such a festival arose as he was coordinating the Teton Boulder Project, the boulder park at the base of the mountain that honors the history of Teton climbing.

“We spent three years building the Boulder Park,”said Beckwith. “The whole time, we’d watch runners, mountain bikers and paragliders using Snow King. We knew that when the Boulder Park was finished, climbers would use it too. Now that its done, we want to throw a party.”

Competing as individuals or in teams, in pro, rec or Masters classes, participants will mountain bike, boulder, run and paraglide over the course of the day. Industry representatives will be on hand to offer demos of their products. Local companies will give presentations and clinics. Nonprofit organizations will showcase their programs and projects. Food and beverages will keep participants and attendees sated all day long.
