Most events take years and years to become icons in their sport but from day one, the GORE -TEX® TransRockies Run firmly established itself as one of the must-do endurance events in the World. The challenge of six days of epic trail running across the spine of the Rockies combined with the rewards of team competition and camp camaraderie has made the TransRockies Run the best-reviewed and most exciting trail running event in North America.

TransRockies Run participants compete as teams of two runners in a variety of divisions based upon team gender and combined age. Each day for six days, they take on an epic trail run—some days are short and sharp going up and down over a single high pass, while others are long and undulating covering marathon-like distances through incredible mountain scenery and terrain. During the six days, the runners cover roughly 110-120 miles of trail, depending on exact final routing, including everything from sun-baked high desert to rock-strewn mountain passes trails, cold creek crossings and alpine meadows.

With an authentic mountain sports heritage and a deep commitment to trail running, Salomon is a natural event partner for the TransRockies Run and in 2010, for the third straight year, Salomon will be the official footwear of the GTTRR. Shoes are, after all, the single most important piece of running equipment for each competitor and Salomon’s trail running shoes lead the industry with proprietary technologies like Advanced Chassis, Sensifitâ„¢, Quicklaceâ„¢ and Asymmetrical Lacing and performance tested and proven around the world by Salomon’s crew of mountain sports junkies.

Each year, Salomon brings a full representation of athletes, staff and equipment to augment the participant experience. “With the Colorado Rockies providing the backdrop you get to see and interact with the runners everyday” said Gui Guimond, Salomon Marketing. “We love attending the event and supporting the runners with the Salomon Relaxation Station.

The runners’ camp is a great place to hang out telling the day’s stories and the information shared by the athletes is invaluable in helping us develop new product. When you are around the runners you just feel the energy in the air. We love the TRR!”

Runners will face a huge potential variety of Rocky Mountain weather: heat at lower elevations, cold on the peaks, bone-dry jeep tracks, wet mountain creeks, and even the potential for snow. Thermal and moisture regulation will be paramount in maintaining comfortable, healthy feet and Salomon’s trail running range includes several different shoes made with GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort fabric for light, mobile and breathable waterproof barrier protection.

“Gore’s solution for keeping runner’s feet comfortably protected across the full spectrum of ground conditions encountered throughout the Trans Rockies run continues to prove itself year after year,” said Matt Schreiner, Gore Global Footwear Product Specialist. “The Salomon styles featuring GORE-TEX® brand technology just keep getting better. Our collaborative approach to product development and mutual passion for meeting the needs of a performance runner bring real purpose to our ongoing sponsorship of the run. The inspiration we get each year from the runner’s keeps our product development teams incredibly motivated.”

Starting in Buena Vista on August 22nd and finishing at Beaver Creek Mountain resort six days later, this fourth edition of the GORE-TEX® TransRockies Run will again challenge runners to overcome distance, altitude and a wide variety of trail obstacles as they move toward the finish line in Beaver Creek. The rewards of the TransRockies Run are just as exceptional: spectacular mountain scenery along the Continental Divide to Aspen forests and high alpine meadows; camaraderie created by the unique team multi-day format; and fantastic full-spectrum race support from one of the foremost event organizations in the World.
