Salomon Partners with REI Outessa to Offer Women Outdoor Experiences, Inspiration and Adventures
Salomon and REI continued partnership expands beyond destination retreats to include experiences to celebrate the community of women living an active outdoor life

OGDEN, Utah (January 17, 2018) – Salomon today announces its sponsorship of REI Outessa, a series of immersive, three-day outdoor adventure retreats designed to grow and strengthen the community of women in the outdoors. REI Outessa expanded offerings now include three unique experiences beginning in Summer 2018, including retreats, festivals, and a virtual join in so women can select the experience that is best for them, whether close to home or a destination location. For the third consecutive year since the event’s inception, Salomon will lead as the official Trail Running Footwear partner for REI Outessa in 2018.
“Since this event series kicked off three years ago, Salomon has been a big believer in Outessa’s platform for engaging and inspiring women in the outdoors,” says Jenny Taylor, brand director for Salomon in North America. “After a successful first few years, we are excited for the opportunity to get out and play on the trails with incredible groups of women around the country.”
Each three-day retreat offers a fully customizable schedule of skills clinics and workshops, from wilderness survival and navigation to trail running and backpacking, taught by leading outdoor brand partners and more than 20 of REI Outdoor School’s top female instructors. Salomon will engage with hundreds of women at each retreat, offering a number of the brand’s popular How To Trail Run Workshops, led by Salomon trail running athletes, as well as product demonstrations of Salomon’s latest award-winning trail running footwear, including the XA Elevate.
Each day starts with a full breakfast before heading out for the day, while evenings are filled with chef-inspired meals and fireside relaxation complete with s’mores, wine, inspirational speakers, and conversation. In 2017, the retreat series brought close to 1,000 women together to experience the outdoors and find their community of likeminded women.
REI Outessa retreats in 2018 will be held at two breathtaking mountain playgrounds. Destinations were chosen for their inspirational alpine environments, sweeping views, pristine lake, and adventure-ready terrain with miles of trails for running, hiking and mountain biking. Each offer resort hospitality and proximity to major airports, making travel easy for participants. The dates and locations are:
• August 2-5: Squaw Valley in North Lake Tahoe, California
• September 13-16: Waterville Valley in the White Mountains, New Hampshire
