Jewelry designer Bronwen Lodato’s latest design, the HERA necklace, benefits ovarian cancer research. The San Francisco–based designer, who specializes in jewelry for women who love to travel and seek adventure, is giving 15 percent of HERA necklace sales to the HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation. The necklace hangs a sterling silver or gold lotus flower just above the heart, symbolizing a woman’s strength and ability to rise from adversity. Tiny silver Bali beads on Irish linen cord form a delicate circle around the neck, while a spring-ring clasp with decorative tassels enhance the look on the back of the neck. It is available at www.bronwenonline.com in silver for $59 and gold for $72. Irish linen cords come in wheatgrass, espresso or mandarin colors.

“Bronwen makes it possible for women to express their passion for travel and adventure in a way that’s both powerful and feminine,” says Stephanie Forte, founding HERA board member whose agency runs the Partners in Action program. “Her design for HERA achieves that goal while also allowing women to empower one another through the necklace’s support of the HERA Foundation.”

Designer Bronwen Lodato explains that her “inspiration comes from the organic world, and in this case, that’s the beauty of a woman’s relationship with herself and other women,” she says. “When a woman feels beautiful in her jewelry, she exudes confidence. But when she can do that and knowingly make a difference in another woman’s life, then she’s also able to express one of her greatest female qualities—compassion.”
