Saucony, Inc., a leading global supplier of performance athletic footwear and apparel, today announced that Runner’s World, the worldwide authority on running information, awarded the Saucony ProGrid Jazz 12 “Best Buy†in the magazine’s annual Fall Shoe Guide special. The ProGrid Jazz 12 is one of four of the 21 shoes featured in the review, all of which were put through rigorous testing by Runner’s World editors, 350 wear-testers and the one-of-a-kind Runner’s World Shoe Lab.
Criteria guidelines for the “Best Buy†category specify that a shoe offer the best fit and function for its price. “The Jazz has always been a great value,†said the Runner’s World editors in their review of the ProGrid Jazz 12. “This latest update is softer in the heel—and an ounce lighter,†they added. Editors recommend the shoe “for lightweight runners who have high arches and are looking for a lightweight trainer at a very reasonable price.†Wear-testers applauded the cushioning and comfort of the Jazz 12.
“We set out to transform the brand’s heritage trainer into a fresh performance update with new technologies and aggressive styling, while still maintaining value for the consumer,†said Patrick O’Malley, vice president of product for Saucony. “The entire team at Saucony is extremely proud to be recognized by Runner’s World for this achievement,†he added.
Originally launched in 1981, the Jazz was the most technical performance running shoe of its time, establishing the brand’s legendary fit, superb ride, and triangular outsole lugs.
The Jazz would later become the most popular shoe in Saucony’s history and the
centerpiece of the Saucony Originals Collection.
Although the basic foundation of the Jazz remains consistent with the previous versions, the Jazz 12 is decidedly different. The Jazz 12 incorporates new technologies like Saucony’s innovative heel ProGridâ„¢ with Respon-Tekâ„¢ and a triangular lug design that offers the neutral runner a smooth and seamless transition from the heel to the forefoot. On the upper, a forefoot lockdown keeps the foot secure, and a generous wrap of air mesh gives the Jazz optimal breathability. The new update has been injected with bold new colors and an aggressive style that will appeal to youthful runners. Inside, a moisture wicking, premium sockliner enhances the Saucony fit and feel that made the Jazz a legend in the first place. The Jazz comes in two colors each for men and women. (Sizes: men’s 7-13, 14, and women’s 5-11, 12; MSRP: $80.00)
