Sea to Summit ComfortPlus Sleeping Mat Series Receives 2014 OutDoor Industry Award

BOULDER, CO(July 28, 2014) – The Sea to SummitComfortPlus Sleeping Mat series has recently been named winner of 2014 OutDoor Industry Award in the sleeping mat category, following their debut at the OutDoor tradeshow in Friedrichshafen, Germany. The ComfortPlus Sleeping Mats are one of three series in the new Sea to Summit collection that will be coming to market for spring 2015.
The OutDoor Industry Award jury was very impressed with the no-compromise overall quality of these innovative new mats, claiming, “this air mattress not only is comfortable but also has a compact pack size, weighs little, crackles hardly at all and has a structure that largely eliminates cold spots and better insulates the upper body. So it ticks all boxes.”
The rave review was just reward for the hard work and dedication of the team in creating these products. “Designing these new sleeping mats and researching the new technologies we bring to this category has been one of the most intense design experiences in our company’s history,” explains Shelley Dunbar, Marketing Director at Sea to Summit. “So to receive this recognition from OutDoor for the innovation we’ve brought to the category validates all of the hard work that has gone into bringing these mats to market.”
After identifying the key elements that are most important to the end user when it comes to purchasing a sleeping mat – comfort, ease of use, and durability – Sea to Summit’s talented and meticulous product engineers set to work producing the new collection of sleeping mats. Innovative technologies include Air Sprung Cells™ that function the same way as internally coil sprung mattresses do. Each cell deforms independently, so the mattress conforms to body shape and feels softer and more comfortable with body contact area due to an even dispersion of pressure. The patent-pending multi- function valve allows for easy inflation, rapid deflation and fine tune pressure adjustment. The Comfort Plus series of mats are the first air mats on the market with two air chambers providing both a huge range of comfort and pressure options to set the best feel as well as mat redundancy if one layer of the mat was to be punctured in the field.
