Red Wing, MN – Vasque is excited to announce its Gold-level sponsorship of the nonprofit Mount Washington Observatory’s 12th annual Seek the Peak event, a hike-a-thon to the windswept summit of Mount Washington, New Hampshire. Intrepid adventurers undertake the alpine trekking event on July 21st to enjoy stunning 360-degree views and raise money for the nonprofit Observatory.
This popular hiking event started in 2001 and has raised close to $1,000,000 for the Mt. Washington Observatory over its eleven-year history. Hikers spend months raising money for the ‘Obs’, a popular nickname for the Observatory, and on the day of the event they hike the mountain and celebrate with an after party of food, fun, camaraderie and great giveaways. The funds raised by the hikers allow the Observatory to continue collecting weather data, performing research and educating the public about the science of climate and weather.
Seek the Peak is also part of the Vasque-sponsored Backpacker 2012 Get Out More Tour, which brings the pages of Backpacker magazine alive at events and festivals throughout the country. The Get Out More team shares their passion for the outdoors and educates consumers on the skills and gear they need to thrive outside.
