Sherpa Adventure Gear Strengthens Design and Customer Service Teams with Three Hires



KENT, WASHINGTON, USA and KATHMANDU, NEPAL—June 20, 2013—Sherpa Adventure Gear today announced and welcomes three key members to its staff who will support the growing company’s product design and development and customer service teams.


Effective immediately, Gina Heard is the company’s new Apparel and Quality Control Manager, Hannah Todd has joined as Product Development Designer, and Kimberly Cogger will serve as Customer Service Associate. The new team members join as the company celebrates its 10th anniversary year and sets its sight on future growth and expansion, both in the U.S. and Nepal, where it makes most of its apparel.

Gina Heard will oversee setting the standard for quality assurance measures and excellence with Sherpa’s entire design, development and manufacturing team located both in Kent, Washington and Kathmandu, Nepal. Heard brings 17 years of technical engineering, design, product development and quality assurance expertise to her new role, most recently with Nordstrom, Inc.’s private label division, a leading fashion specialty retailer. Prior to this, she had oversight of fabric and finished garment exports with Li & Fung, Ltd. in Taiwan, a major global sourcing agent for consumer goods and leading apparel brands. Heard studied at both the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and Shih Chien College in Tapei, Taiwan.

Hannah Todd joins Heard on the product development team based in Kent, WA, where she will guide apparel design from initial concepts and materials selection to product completion. Todd has over six years of outdoor industry experience working with leading brands, including at Mountain Hardwear where she managed product development and design for headwear and women’s prints. She graduated from the California College of Arts where she earned a degree in fashion design.

 Gina and Hannah grow the Kent, WA-based development team to six people; Additionally five employees based in Kathmandu, Nepal oversee R & D and manufacturing in Nepal, where the majority of the Sherpa Adventure Gear’s apparel is made.

Finally, Kimberly Cogger adds to Sherpa’s 3-person customer service team, and will offer specialized customer relations and sales assistance. Prior to Sherpa Adventure Gear, she was a top tier Customer Service Representative at apparel company Tommy Bahama.

All three new team members share an appreciation for the outdoor lifestyle as well as working with a company that has strong tradition of social responsibility. Now celebrating its 10th year, Sherpa Adventure Gear was founded in 2003 by Tashi Sherpa to honor and give back to the Sherpa people, and provide valuable jobs in Nepal. The company directly funds the education of Sherpa children by donating a portion of every sale to the Paldorje Education Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization formed by Sherpa Adventure Gear in 2012.
