Sherpani Introduces Elements Collection of Artist Inspired Bags

Sherpani, the leader in lifestyle bags for active women, is breaking new ground again with a unique collection of artist-inspired bags made with natural, eco-friendly fabrics. In collaboration with New-York based artist Cathy Nichols, the Elements collection features vibrant artwork reflecting natural elements on a series of hand and sport bags crafted in natural cotton canvas, trimmed with animal-friendly vegan leather, and accented with snap and buckle closures made of recycled aluminum.

New for fall 2011, the exclusive Elements collection is composed of nine different bag styles featuring: handbags, totes, messenger bags and cross body bags. Each style showcases one of four of Nichols’ paintings; Just Beginning, Blue Skies, Two Song, or Falling Tree, in striking color and inspiring natural imagery.
Nichols’s work is also featured on Etsy, the well-known artist community and website, where her paintings have been recognized as “Best Nature Art”.

The exclusive artwork is created with a technique known as encaustic painting, in which heated beeswax containing colored pigments is applied to a wood surface. Over three years of research and development, Sherpani developed a process for transferring the art onto a particular fabric that can hold the full array of colors.

“Cathy’s inspiring paintings are a perfect reflection of the Sherpani attitude: feminine, whimsical but with a grown up sophistication. We’ve paired them with a special selection of bags that are intended for a unique expression of style and everyday functionality,” said Maria Gaudette, Senior Designer for Sherpani.

Sherpani’s Year-Over-Year sales have jumped more than 25% on the launch of both the new Elements and the new Limited Edition Collections.
