Booth space for the 2014 SIA On-Snow Demo and Nordic Demo at Copper Mountain (Feb. 3-4) is sold out, with nearly 120 brands offering hundreds of 2014/15 skis, snowboards, boots, poles, helmets and accessories for buyers and media to compare side-by-side. SIA invites the entire industry to enjoy the varied terrain at Copper Mountain for the Ski-Ride fest after wrapping up the SIA Snow Show (Jan. 30-Feb. 2) at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.

The On-Snow Demo, held in conjunction with the Western Winter Sports Representatives Association (WWSRA) Rocky Mountain Demo, will benefit from Copper Mountain’s 166 inches of snow this season and its naturally progressive skiing and riding terrain.
“Reps have responded very enthusiastically to the Copper Mountain demo location,” said Cami Garrison of WWSRA. “The Center Village facilities, terrain and nice set up at the base of the half pipe is going to make it a great experience for everyone testing product.”
With the move to Copper Mountain, the On-Snow Demo will have an expanded boot demo facility in a 2,000-square foot Conference Center that connects with the registration area and dining areas.

The Nordic Demo, a short shuttle ride and walking distance from the On-Snow Demo, features a 5K loop and well-groomed park for a complete cross-country experience. Check out the Nordic Demo schedule and list of Nordic seminars.
“The Nordic Demo at Copper promises great short test loops on varied terrain, great for comparing products,” said Reese Brown, SIA’s Nordic director. “The line-up of Nordic-specific mini seminars and gatherings will help buyers hone in on best practices for the coming season without taking them off the snow for too long.”
A complete list of alpine, snowboard and Nordic exhibitors is available here.
“SIA’s On-Snow Demo/Ski-Ride Fest allows us to tweak the product lineup,” said Joe Palaia, snowboard clothing and equipment buyer for Buckman’s in Pottstown, Penn. “The most important factor is ensuring that the consumer will be on a board with performance comparable to what they are getting for their dollar.”
The Nordic Demo is equally important to retailers around the country.
“This Demo is so valuable because there is no other opportunity to test equipment side by side like this,” said Joshua Stephen of Outdoor Gear Exchange in Burlington, Vt. who attended the Nordic Demo in 2013.
Bringing together the weak, strong and the thirsty, the Uphill/Downhill Challenge fundraising event for the U.S. Ski Mountaineering Team tasks teams to compete against their own best times in the industry and COSMIC levels. Challenge starts at 1P and awards, raffle drawing and cold brews start at 3P. Go to SIAsnowshow.com/uphilldownhill to sign up. Product donations for the raffle fundraiser can be dropped off at the Backcountry Experience booth at the SIA Snow Show.
“The SIA On-Snow Demo is a great way to end the Show because it’s the perfect reminder of why we do this,” said Willy Booker, president of Nordica. “You can feel the camaraderie and certainly see the passion of the industry when you get everyone back outside.”
The fun continues after the Demo with great deals that SIA has arranged with the training center at Woodward at Copper, local restaurants, bars and retail establishments.
The On-Snow Demo/Ski-Ride Fest, 9AM-3:30PM, is only 74 miles west of Denver and easy to get to and from with the free shuttle service. Registration is $20 and includes lift tickets, breakfasts and lunches, and ski/snowboard rentals.
