Sierra Designs grows relationship with Cocona for 2011

BOULDER, COLO. (For Immediate Release) – Outdoor apparel and equipment manufacturer Sierra Designs will grow their relationship with technical fabrics manufacturer Cocona for Fall 2011 with a the Sonic Outlaw, a high performance, waterproof/breathable softshell featuring Cocona’s Xcelerator technology.
Blending innovative designs and modern aesthetics with Cocona’s technologically advanced Xcelerator fabric, Sierra Designs’ Sonic Outlaw is built to handle a full range of on-mountain activities and weather conditions while keeping you warm, dry, and comfortable.
“We initially partnered with Cocona for Spring 2011 to create a series of highly breathable and waterproof jackets and pants for backpacking,” said Sue Edmiston, director of marketing for Sierra Designs. “We were so pleased with the performance that we wanted to advance our relationship with a winter-specific piece that will excel in a variety of conditions.”
Cocona fabric technology consists of micro porous active particles derived from coconut husks. The immense surface area of these active particles reacts to increases in body heat, accelerating the evaporation of moisture through the fabric.
The one-of-a-kind Sonic Outlaw features a softshell outer with a PU laminate membrane coated with Cocona’s Xcelerator particles. A microfleece lining adds warmth and wicking to keep you drier, less clammy, and more comfortable in a wider range of weather conditions.
For superior on-mountain performance, the Sonic Outlaw features Sonic four-way stretch softshell material to maximize mobility. A removable snow skirt provides versatility while the fully adjustable helmet compatible hood adds wind and weather protection. Four pockets keep essentials handy and a Recco avalanche rescue system gives piece of mind.
