Sierra Magazine Rates Top Plug-In Hybrids
July/August issue features annual electric vehicle guide; cycling features to inspire two-wheeled adventures at all activity levels; and The Green Life
(SAN FRANCISCO) – For those drivers raised on the belief in the liberating freedom of the open road, the July/August issue ofSierra magazine, the official magazine of theSierra Club, reveals which plug-in hybrids go the extra mile. The magazine feature reviewed six vehicles: Chevrolet Volt, Ford C-Max Energi, Ford Fusion Energi, Honda Accord Plug-In, Fisker Karma and Toyota Prius Plug-In. In addition, there is also a new, complementary online Electric Vehicle Guide. The new EV Guide brings together, for the first time all in one place, a buyer’s guide, links to Sierra Club’s Go Electric campaign, information on EV incentives and emissions, and presents specific cars for sale – all based on where you live.
To celebrate the arrival of high cycling season, Sierra also presents several bicycling stories to inspire two-wheeled adventures. From pioneering no-car, no-pannier routes in the Alps and mountain biking in Montana to upcycling a spare tire for the sake of fashion, the July/August issue has something for cyclists of all activity levels.
On the heels of the UN’s report last month recommending an increase in consuming insects for dietary purposes, Sierra’s cover story, “Eat Your Bugs!,” ruminates on edible bugs as a healthy, nutritious – and environmentally-friendly – alternative to mainstream staples such as chicken, beef, pork and fish. TV actress Emmanuelle Chriqui spoke with The Green Life about her passion for environmental activism and how an electric vehicle inspired her to get more involved. The Green Life also identified environmentally-responsible car products, ideal for any driver with an EV, a hybrid or a gas guzzler.
