Sierra Magazine Announces Our 3rd Annual Paddling Issue This May/June 2008.

San Francisco, CA–Sierra’s 3rd Annual Paddling section is written by Darren Bush of RUTABAGA and board member of the Paddling Industry Association. Darren shares paddling adventures with his daughter in Alaska. The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation will also contribute some fishing safety tips for your canoes or
kayaks.

Because of the overwhelming response of the Paddlesport Contest last year, this year Sierra will be offering a paddlesport trip to Lee County,
Florida and some great paddling gear.

Other editorial features include a story by renowned outdoor writer Daniel Duane paddling Alaska’s Tongass National Forest. In addition, Sierra will also have a colorful photo feature on Jock Bradley, Dunbar Hardy and Charles Munsey, the daredevil photographers who capture kayakers in action. And finally, the new Mixed Media department will review “everything about rivers and paddling”.

Sierra is committed to help grow the paddling sport community through their annual paddling issues and grassroots marketing programs. The Sierra Club and its 1.2* million+ members have been protecting waterways, paddling and fishing them for more than 100 years. Sierra Club members are: Active, 78% have gone paddling in the past year; Interested, 55% would like to learn more about canoeing/kayaking; Future paddling customers, 38% plan to buy a canoe or kayak in the next year; and Fishing enthusiasts: 32% own
fishing gear.

The Sierra Club encourages members to explore and enjoy the waterways by providing paddling clinics and paddling trips. Sierra magazine helps the
paddling community reach out to these new paddlers and the Club’s volunteer leaders who guide paddling trips through the National Outings Program. Sierra is a proud sponsor of Canoecopia, the American Canoe Association, the Paddlesport Industry Association, the Trade Association of
Paddlesports, the Outdoor Industry Association and the Outdoor Industry Women’s Coalition.

The May/June Issue closes for ad space on March 11. For more information, go to www.sierraclub.org/sierra/mediakit/pdfs/08MJ_SierraPaddle.pdf
