Silva, maker of high-quality compass models for beginners to experienced outdoor professionals, marks the 75th anniversary of the Ranger Compass in 2014 at the Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City, Utah (booth #26027). Two new compasses commemorate the revolutionary navigation system, the Ranger 75th Anniversary and the Ranger 1939 Legacy.

“Created for the Swedish army to provide pin-point accuracy in the field 75 years ago, the original Model 1939 compass paired the liquid filled capsule and clear base plate together with a mirror and sight feature,” said Linda Grebe, Silva product manager at Johnson Outdoors Gear LLC. “This year we are very excited to offer the Ranger 1939 Legacy model to commemorate this innovation.”

The Ranger 1939 Legacy compass has an aluminum lid with molded design and a laser etched “Ranger” on the side. This model also has an aluminum bezel with laser-etched markings. It measures 4”x2.5”, weighs 3.5 oz. and is packaged in a gift box, MSRP: $99.99.

The Ranger 75th Anniversary compass has a 75th Anniversary logo in silver metallic pad print on the lid. It also has an aluminum bezel with laser-etched markings and is built in the tradition of the original model sold in the U.S. A limited number of the Anniversary models will be produced in 2014 to commemorate the Ranger anniversary. It incorporates the capsule and base plate features of the traditional Ranger CL compass, measures 4”x2.5”, weighs 2.5 oz. and retails for $79.99.

Both models feature 2° graduations, 1:24,000 map scale, 1/20 inch and millimeter rules, 1:25,000 & 1:50,000 romer scales, gear declination adjustment, sighted mirror for 1° pinpoint accuracy, clinometer, map magnifier, luminous points for night use, silicone feet and a lanyard with adjustable slider and screwdriver.
