Simms to launch GORE-TEX footwear line in 2011

BOZEMAN, Mont. – Buoyed by its long relationship with W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc – makers of GORE-TEX® Technology – Simms Fishing Products will launch a line of waterproof, breathable performance footwear early in 2011. Simms will be the first company to focus on designing and developing GORE-TEX® footwear specifically for anglers.
As part of its expanded footwear line in 2011, Simms is introducing three GORE-TEX® footwear pieces: The Pursuit GORE-TEX® Shoe Mid and Low and the Harbor GORE-TEX® Shoe, all designed for wear on and off the water. All three shoes feature GORE-TEX® membrane, non-marking Vibram® outsoles – originally designed for use by the US Navy on carrier ships – and OrthoLite® memory foam sockliners for superior comfort.
Having manufactured breathable GORE-TEX® waders in its Bozeman, Montana facility since 1993 and being the fishing industry leader in Vibram® soled technology gives Simms a unique advantage as it crosses into the performance footwear market.

All told for 2011, Simms will have six new boat and travel shoes and two wading boots. Ranging from $149.95 to $169.95, Simms’ GORE-TEX® shoes will be available at Authorized Simms Dealers in February 2011.
