Skirt Sports Expands Skirt Chaser 5k Race Series to 11 Cities in 2010, 20 Slated for 2012

Boulder, Colo. (June 7, 2010) – Skirt Sports, inventor of the original fitness skirt and leader in the women’s fitness apparel industry, is proud to announce that its successful Skirt Chaser 5k Race Series has expanded to 11 cities in 2010 reaching thousands of runners and fitness enthusiasts nationwide. In 2012, the series is slated for explosive growth with 20 locations in development.

“We first launched the Skirt Chaser 5k race series in 2007 with just one race in an effort to mix racing, flirting and entertainment in an innovative social fitness environment,” noted Nicole DeBoom, CEO and founder of Skirt Sports. “The concept took off and we are thrilled that over 15,000 racers will participate in the series this year alone!”

Each Skirt Chaser 5k race kicks off with the women first followed three minutes later by the men and the chase is on. The first person across the finish line takes home $500 and all participants enjoy a festive post-race Block Party featuring live entertainment, fashion show and dating games in a happy hour atmosphere. The Block Party is also open to the general public for a nominal entry fee. National sponsors of the Skirt Chaser 5k race series include Skirt Sports, XOOD, Native Eyewear, SOLE, PowerBar, Chipotle and Oskar Blues Brewery.

“Runners constantly rave about their Skirt Chaser 5k experiences; it really has become the best bang for the buck in the world of running these days,” says Chris Grack-Wilson, Skirt Sports brand manager. “What other race gives all women a $50 Skirt Sports running skirt with entry and hosts a rocking party that lasts into the night?!”

Upcoming 2010 race dates include: Chicago, Ill. (June 19), Vancouver, Wash. (Aug. 7), Denver, Colo. (Aug. 28), Minneapolis, Minn. (Sept. 19), Savannah, Ga. (Oct. 2), Charlotte, NC (Oct. 16) and San Francisco, Calif. (Nov. 14). For the full schedule of events along with race day details, registration, volunteer opportunities and more, please visit www.SkirtSports.com. Entries are limited, so early registration is encouraged.

Expansion plans for 2011-2012 have not been finalized so Skirt Sports has opened a vote to the running community to elect future race cities (and to keep current cities on the calendar). Place your vote online today at http://www.skirtsports.com/skirtchaser5k/vote.cfm.
