ST. LOUIS (April 4, 2007) – Slumberjack is one of the first outdoor sleep system companies to incorporate the new Climasheild® XP insulation into sleeping bags. Climashield XP – which is widely used in outerwear, hats, gloves and footwear – is a high performance, continuous-filament insulation that is warmer, lighter, more compressible and more resilient than other types of insulation in the market.

The new Climashiled XP insulation will be incorporated into the company’s Vertex sleeping bags, which will be unveiled this week at the 2006 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Utah.

“At Slumberjack, we travel the world to uncover new materials and insulations that will improve the quality and performance of our bags,” said Brent Klages, director of operations for Slumberjack. “We’re excited to be one of the premiere sleeping bag companies to use this revolutionary insulation.”

Climashield XP offers outdoor adventurers the best of both worlds. It provides superior warmth, loft and durability, yet easily compresses down for lightweight, compact transportation and storage. Climashield’s advanced technology utilizes thousands of continuous strands of polyester and spreads them into a naturally interlocking insulation, which makes it extremely durable. The polyester filaments allow moisture to migrate through them, which helps to keep the bag warm and dry in all weather conditions. Finally, Climashield XP does not clump, shift or move. This ensures an even distribution of insulation, eliminating cold spots in the bag. In the end, Slumberjack’s Vertex sleeping bags with Climashield XP insulation are warmer, lighter and more durable than many competitive products in the market.

In addition to Climashiled XP insulation, Slumberjack’s Vertex sleeping bags incorporate a wide variety of features and benefits. The exterior of the bags are constructed from a durable, anti-snag, water-resistant, nylon ripstop fabric along with a polyester pongee material, which has a luxurious feel and distinctive look. The interior of the bag features a plush, polyester-taffeta liner, which offers a silky, smooth feel. To further enhance warmth and comfort, each sleeping bag includes an insulated draft tube and adjustable storm collar to keep cold air out and warm air in.

The mummy-shaped sleeping bags feature a fully-contoured hood wrapping snuggly around a user’s head. The hood can also be flipped inside-out to act as a pillow. To make adjustments, the hood features easy-access drawcords.

Finally, all Vertex sleeping bags feature easy-to-grab, hook-and-loop zippers and an internal utility pocket that is used to store small items like an MP3 player, keys or flashlight. They also come with a compression stuff sack for fast, compact storage.

Vertex sleeping bags are available in two different sizes: Regular Right (32” x 82”) and Long Left (34” x 86”). Consumers can select from three different temperature ratings, including: -20ºF, 0ºF and +20ºF. The bags vary in price, ranging from $99 to $149.

For more than fifty years, Slumberjack has been one of the world’s leading manufacturers of outdoor sleep systems. The company’s product portfolio includes: sleeping bags, self-inflating mats, furniture and other outdoor accessories. Slumberjack products are available at specialty stores and sporting goods retailers throughout the country. Products can also be purchased online through various Internet retailers.
