Portland, OR – July 29, 2011 – Snow Peak – the outdoor lifestyle company – is pleased to introduce their first headlamp. The innovative SnowMiner easily transforms from a headlamp into a hanging lantern, allowing backpackers to light up both the trail and the tent with one compact and lightweight lighting system.
The SnowMiner’s smart and patent pending design allows for the lens to be easily removed with a single hand, converting from the focused light of the headlamp to an amazing ambient light spanning 180 degrees. Snow Peak’s revolutionary use of silicone focuses the lens over the LED for headlamp mode, or diffuses the light as lantern mode.
Keeping backpackers’ needs at the forefront, all the joints, straps and buttons are designed to be functional even with the fat finger effect of wearing gloves. The lantern is easily hung with a stout hook that comfortably nests within the headband. The SnowMiner also boasts a long battery life: 140 hours when on the low setting, and 55 hours on high.
Snow Peak is known for its innovation in lighting: the Snow Peak Hozuki LED Candle Lantern was a winner of the Travel + Leisure 2011 Design Award for Best Gear.

About Snow Peak
Snow Peak’s journey began in 1958, when its founder Yukio Yamai, an accomplished Japanese mountaineer, created his own line of superior gear out of the dissatisfaction with available products.
Yamai ‘s natural inspiration came from his life in Niigata Prefecture, Japan. A range of mountains that rise up to an altitude of 1000m form a wall on the boundary between Niigata and Fukushima prefectures, and the rivers and streams born from the peaks and valleys flow out to the East Japan Sea. It is this place that inspired Yukio, and to this day continues to inspire all of the products that come from Snow Peak.
Today we strive to create products that inspire people to enjoy the outdoors, we seek harmony between people and nature, and we look to manufacturer with such high quality standards that you may pass on your equipment to the next generation. This is where all of our designs are born. www.snowpeak.com
