Lynnwood, WA – The knives and multi-tools made by Studies and Observations Group (SOG) have certainly traveled to some interesting places around the globe over the years. Now, a SOG multi-tool is poised to go everywhere the ubiquitous cell phone does, thanks to a collaboration between SOG and PopSockets, maker of expandable phone grips and lifestyle accessories.

The new PopGrip SOG Multi-Tool features a small, detachable flat multi-tool tucked into a custom designed PopGrip, a phone grip that doubles as a hands-free stand used daily by hundreds of millions of people around the globe.

SOG’s multi-tool is secured into the back of the PopGrip with TwistMag™, a built-in magnetic twist system, and features a bottle opener, mini pry bar, and ¼” and 4mm hex bit drivers, allowing users to solve common problems they may encounter throughout the day.

Offering a convenient and secure grip solution for your phone, the PopGrip is repositionable on the back of a phone and is compatible with many of PopSockets other accessories including phone mounts for on-the-go or at-home workspaces.

“Our mission is to provide people with added capabilities wherever they go,” said Jonathan Wegner, Vice President of Brand for SOG. “In the 21st century, it’s our phones that go with us everywhere, all the time. That’s why we’ve partnered with PopSockets to create the PopGrip Multi-tool. It’s a unique, modern and inventive way to carry a compact and convenient tool anywhere, introducing new users to the convenience and usefulness of the everyday carry mindset.”

PopSockets was founded in 2010 by former philosophy professor David Barnett. Barnett was looking for a way to prevent his earbud cord from getting tangled when he glued two buttons to the back of his phone and wrapped his cord around them. In 2014, PopSockets launched out of his garage in Boulder, CO., and today it has offices globally. PopSockets exists to change the world for the better with innovative, magical products and community empowered activism. Core products include the PopGrip, PopTop, PopWallet+, PopMounts and PopGrip Slide Stretch, all designed to increase ease and functionality with devices used daily. To-date more than 196 million PopSockets grips have been sold around the world. In 2018, PopSockets premiered the Poptivism program—a charitable giving platform where customers create their own PopGrip designs and PopSockets donates 50% of the sale price to the customer’s charity of choice. The brand has donated over $4 million dollars in cash and product to 400 nonprofit partners and philanthropic efforts have since expanded to include wellness and sustainability. In 2021, PopSockets was honored as one of Fast Company’s World’s Most Innovative Companies.
