SOL Launches First Ever Essential Survival Tool

Oakland, CA — Adventure® Medical kits, the leading developer of survival gear and first aid products for outdoor enthusiasts, today unveiled the SOL Origin – the first ever fully-featured essential survival tool — to buyers attending the 2010 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, UT.
The initial offering under the company’s newly established SOL (Survive Outdoors Longer) brand, the Origin combines key high-end survival tools that lock into a sturdy injection molded ABS waterproof carrying case, roughly the size and thickness of a digital camera. Aptly named, the Origin marks the dawn of an entirely new product category within the survival gear aisle.
“By fusing fully featured survival items that lock into a sturdy, standalone carrying case, we’re satisfying the ever increasing need of the outdoor enthusiast for gear that provides greater convenience and utility but doesn’t sacrifice dependability,” said AMK marketing director and co-founder, Frank Meyer.
“There are other rudimentary, multiple tool products on the market that include some survival Items,” Meyer continued, “but Origin is the first one that is more than a trinket or gift item; it actually includes items that are useful, durable and offer multiple applications within a survival situation.”
The SOL Origin (MSRP $60.00) features seven tools, including the SOL knife (a folding AUS-8 locking blade with easy-grip handle that comes with a built-in LED light and single-frequency, pea-less whistle that can be heard up to a mile away). Also contained in the Origin is a compass for navigating; a Rescue Flash Signal Mirror with retro-reflective aiming aid for signaling; a SOL Fire Lite fire striker, (which provides 1000 sparks) and windproof and waterproof tinder for fire starting; steel wire and nylon cord for gear repair; fishing kit for food gathering and heavy duty aluminum foil for boiling water. The Origin’s near indestructible waterproof compartment also contains extra room to allow people to add additional survival gear of their choosing.
To buy all of the components found in Origin separately would cost upwards of $90 or more, Meyer noted. “This essential survival tool offers tremendous value to consumers by giving them five of the recommended ten essential items in one package, and provides an incredible opportunity for retailers, because there’s just never been anything like it in the survival section.”
Also rounding out the new SOL Essential Survival Tool line is the Core Lite. An ultralight survival tool, the Core Lite includes a 3.5” folding knife (1.75” blade) made of high-grade AUS-8 steel, built-in emergency whistle and a LED micro-light. The Core Lite (MSRP $25.00) is the ideal lightweight survival tool option, when a pocket’s worth of space is all you have.
The introduction of Origin and Core Lite mark a major development in the evolution of SOL as the premiere name in outdoor survival gear.
