DENVER (July 11, 2017) — SOLE, ReCORK and Scream Agency will be hosting a Steps Toward Sustainability Happy Hour event at Summer Outdoor Retailer at 4:30 p.m. on Wed. July 26 in SOLE Booth #34175. All OR attendees are invited to attend to help recycle corks by drinking wine and listening to TED-style lightening talks from organizations that are making environmentally sustainable choices and using business as a force for positive change.
Organizations that will be providing five-minute presentations will include 1% for the Planet members, OIA’s Sustainability Working Group, SOLE, ReCORK, and CEOs from B Corporations — Davis Smith, CEO/Founder of Cotopaxi, Brian Linton, CEO/Founder of United by Blue and Lora Lederman CEO/Founder of Scream Agency.
The event will also include raffle prizes and souvenir reusable wine glasses priced at $5 to raise money for Big City Mountaineers. Over 31 billion bottles of wine are consumed worldwide every year. Unfortunately, the majority of the wine corks used end up in the trash. ReCORK™ sponsored by SOLE™ is here to change that with North America’s largest natural cork recycling initiative. ReCORK gives wine corks new life in the form of footwear and other upcycled products. The ReCORK initiative is based in the U.S. and has over 1800 collection partners. Learn more at recork.org.
