Solstice Pro Cummins Wins Banked Slalom; Bland Joins Crew

Last month Solstice rider Temple Cummins won the Mt. Baker Banked Slalom snowboard race with a time of 1:26.84. This was Cummins second win at the competition.

Temple Cummins and Tory Bland signed a two-year sponsorship deal with Solstice Outdoor, Inc. this November. The two athletes will represent the Solstice apparel brand while riding on the mountain.

Cummings is a professional snowboarder from Gig Harbor, Washington. He has been snowboarding since the age of 12 and is famous for jumping over a train on his snowboard in the 90s. His wife, Barett Christy, is the 1998 Olympic medalist in Snowboard Pipe. Cummins will spend the majority of this year working on a backcountry film without the use of any fossil fueled devices for travel.

Bland is a professional skier from Bellingham, Washington. He has been skiing nearly his entire life (starting on plastic skis at the age of 3). He has been referred to as the “go to” guide for travel in Mt. Baker’s backcountry. Bland has been working with Mervin Manufacturing on developing state of the art ski technology for this year.

The two athletes have been wowing the Solstice team with their unnatural ability to throw their bodies around the mountain and look good while doing so.
