SPRINGBOOST HIRES V.P. – GENERAL MANAGER, ESTABLISHES U.S. SALES REP FORCE TO BUILD NEW DORSIFLEXION FOOTWEAR LINE
Footwear Industry Veterans Focus on Technology that
Positions Heel Lower Than Forefoot
WALTHAM, Mass. (August 7, 2006) – A team of six footwear industry veterans will market a new dorsiflexion line in the U.S. according to an announcement made today by SpringBoost, the three-year-old Swiss company located in Waltham, Mass. The independent sales representatives will report to Phil Percuoco, U.S. director of sales.
“The challenge of educating the footwear industry about the advantages of dorsiflexion will be met by one of the most experienced sales rep forces a new company can ever hope to assemble,†said Percuoco. “All have at least 10 years of footwear industry experience and are committed to helping retailers profit from the technology.â€
The new reps are:
West – Julie Hasson and Paul Tobin of H & T Sales, 425 489 8427; 425 443 2944. (AL, AZ, CA, NV, OR, WA). Clint Cartledge, 949 249 0080. (CA, NV)

New V.P. – General Manager Hired
Both Percuoco and the sales rep force will work closely with Kevin Johnson, the new vice president-general manager of the company’s U.S. operations. Johnson has more than 20 years of footwear industry experience managing sales, marketing, operations, personnel, and product development at the senior level for both start-up and public companies. He is the former managing director of JGB Company, Milford, Mass., where he worked with major sporting goods retailers in North America, and is the former vice president-general manager of Dexter Sport at HH Brown, Hudson, N.H. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Plymouth State College.
“The brand will be supported by p.o.s., advertising, promotion, and sponsorships. As well, tech reps will clinic on-floor staff,†said Johnson. “Thus, by educating the retailer, we’ll help them educate the consumer about the benefits of dorsiflexion footwear.â€
Lowered Heel Offers Health, Training and Performance Advantages
By lowering the heel, SpringBoost athletic footwear achieves health, training and performance advantages. Independent testing, professional athletes and coaches, professional trainers and medical and scientific researchers in Europe and the U.S. agree that dorsiflexion promotes better posture, alleviates pressure on joints and the lower back, strengthens the core, and enhances blood circulation in the legs. Also, dorsiflexion activates muscle fibers when training target zones – specifically calves, hamstrings, and the gluteus (buttocks).
SpringBoost will cater to dedicated athletes and weekend warriors with sport specific shoes: B-Fit for fitness, B-Train for performance training, B-Spike for volleyball, B-Walk Nordic for Nordic Walking and B-Walk for walking. The models will retail in the U.S. starting in September 2006 for approximately $99.99 to $150.
