SWISS-DESIGNED SPRINGBOOST LAUNCHES IN U.S. WITH

DORSIFLEXION PERFORMANCE FOOTWEAR

A New Slant on Athletic Shoes Offers Health and Fitness From the Feet Up

WALTHAM, Mass. (July 17, 2006) – A three-year-old Swiss company has entered the U.S. market with a new slant on performance footwear based upon the biomechanical science of dorsiflexion – the concept of positioning the heel below the ball of the foot. SpringBoost, headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, has opened a U.S. headquarters in Waltham, Mass., and will officially launch its sports performance footwear at three major trade shows this summer: IDEA in Las Vegas, WSA in Las Vegas, and the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City.

Under the direction of SpringBoost chairman and CEO Andrew Silvestri, a 25-year footwear industry veteran, the company’s management team will focus on building a niche brand that applies SpringBoost’s proprietary Dorsiflexion Technology to several categories of footwear including fitness, walking, Nordic walking, running, volleyball and others under development.

Lowering the Heel Offers Health Benefits

By lowering the heel, SpringBoost athletic footwear achieves health, training and performance benefits. Independent testing, professional athletes and coaches, professional trainers and medical and scientific researchers in Europe and the U.S. agree that dorsiflexion promotes better posture, alleviates pressure on joints and the lower back, strengthens the core, and enhances blood circulation in the legs. Also, dorsiflexion activates muscle fibers when training target zones – specifically calves, hamstrings, and the gluteus (buttocks).

“By properly aligning the body, athletes will benefit from more explosive power. Volleyball players will spike higher, other athletes will have improved performance in running and jumping, and women especially will notice their buttocks and legs will be trimmer and more toned,” said SpringBoost’s Andrew Silvestri.

SpringBoost will cater to dedicated athletes and weekend warriors with sport specific shoes: B-Fit for fitness, B-Train for performance training, B-Spike for volleyball, B-Walk Nordic for Nordic Walking and B-Walk for walking. The models will retail in the U.S. for approximately $99.99 to $150.

Adjusting the Angle of Dorsiflexion

The company’s Modular Insole Program allows users to change the angle of dorsiflexion with removable footbeds ranging from 0 degrees (neutral position) to 5 degrees inclination (the angles of dorsiflexion vary from one model to another).

SpringBoost shoes will be available starting in September 2006, according to Kevin Johnson, vice president and general manager, based in Waltham. Distribution will include the comfort chain Foot Solutions. GSI is first to carry the line on 15 Web sites, including Dick’s Sporting Goods, Sports Authority, Dunham’s Sports, Modell’s Sporting Goods and Sport Chalet.

SpringBoost is headquartered in the U.S. at 135 Beaver Street, Suite 400, Waltham, Mass. 02452. Tel. 781 894 0009 or toll free 1 866 7BOOST1; www.springboost.com.
