Russ Rowan has been named Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Spyder Active Sports, bringing nearly twenty years of snowsport retail, sales, and marketing experience to the worldwide leader in performance skiwear. Rowan will be responsible for North American sales and brand direction, and will report to Thomas McGann, Spyder’s President and CEO.
Rowan’s background includes tenure at other worldwide performance apparel and action sport brands such as Helly Hansen, Burton, and O’Neill. McGann and Rowan had previously worked together at Burton. “I’m excited to be able to work with Russ again, because I’ve seen his track record in building relationships within sales channels†McGann said. “We have a solid sales and marketing team in place, and Russ will complement that group’s expertise,†he said.
Rowan agreed that coming to Spyder was a natural progression. “It’s a great feeling going back to my roots, working for a top performing ski brand with a solid team. I started wearing Spyder when I was thirteen racing in the Cascades, and now that I have been back on skis for some time I am excited to be part of the crew,†he said. “I have had the pleasure working with Tom McGann in the past and know that he is capable of bringing an enormous amount of energy, drive and passion to any action sport brand. When he reached out to me I knew it would be a great ride all over again.â€
Based out of Spyder’s headquarters in Boulder, CO, his employment began August 26, 2009.
