“Between”, co-produced by Red Bull Media House and Austrian pro skier / filmmaker Sandra Lahnsteiner, hits Boulder Theater November 3rd
(FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) –Legendary Boulder-based ski and performance apparel brand Spyder is thrilled to announce the USA premiere of “Shades of Winter: Between” – directed by pro freeskier and filmmaker Sandra Lahnsteiner – at the historic Boulder Theater on Thursday, November 3rd. Doors open at 6:30pm, with a showtime of 7:30pm.
“Between” is the third full feature production by Lahnsteiner and comes at the heels of her internationally acclaimed, award-winning freeski films “Shades of Winter” (2013) and “Pure” (2014). The film follows the best-of-the-best in female freeskiing and surfing as they shred and surf breathtaking destinations around the world. Spyder athlete Julia Mancuso, an American World Cup alpine ski racer andOlympic gold medalist, has a prominent presence in the film and plans to attend the Boulder event on November 3rd.
“With the first two films, we proved that girls really rip,” says Lahnsteiner. “With ‘Between’, viewers get to really see the athletes, find out who they are, and how they feel about their lives, and their sports. The film showcases all the moments between the big action, including the beautiful, the ordinary, and the low moments of life.”
In addition to Lahnsteiner and Mancuso, the star-studded cast of “Between” includes:
- Nadine Wallner: Two-time Freeride World Tour Champion
- Janina Kuzma: World Cup Winner and 2014 Olympian
- Carissa Moore: Three-time World Surf Champion
- Matilda Rapaport: 2013 Verbier Extreme winner
“We’re huge fans of what Sandra has been able to do as a skier and as a director with the first two Shades of Winter’ films, and we’re excited to help bring ‘Between’ to US audiences,” says Brady Collings, Spyder’s VP of Marketing. “As a proud sponsor of Julia Mancuso, we love seeing her and other women tear it up in the film. As good as the action is, the personal stories behind the scenes are what make this film so unique. We’re beyond excited to bring it to Boulder.”
The Boulder premier is co-sponsored byALLIED Feather & Down, the leading supplier and processor of down to the outdoor industry. As a sponsor of Lahnsteiner and down supplier to Spyder, ALLIED is equally excited to be a part of the film’s debut in the USA.
“ALLIED is all about getting outside and experiencing the joys of cold and snow, and this film exemplifies just how wonderful and epic that can be,” ALLIED President Daniel Uretsky says. “We’re so proud to be working with Sandra as an athlete and a filmmaker, as her passion and girls-rule attitude is infectious both in person and in the movie.”
