Spyder announced the creation of a new corporate division that will focus on resort and race business independently yet within the Spyder infrastructure. Summyt Division was born of custom apparel program’s necessity for entrepreneurial thinking and an orientation toward active flexibility. The group exists to focus on client’s individual needs while leveraging Spyder’s elite and grassroot race heritage, athlete collaboration, and technical apparel innovations.
Spyder has manufactured custom uniforms for winter resorts since 1988 and annually produces over 30,000 custom uniform items for use at winter resorts worldwide. Initial target markets for the division are resort and pro sales. Within these markets Spyder will utilize the established Pro Gear custom garment collection and develop unique outfitting solutions for on-mountain professionals throughout the year.
Phil Shettig, Spyder’s general manager of race and resort, spoke confidently about the new opportunity. “Spyder is known on the world stage for our acumen in racing, our heritage in elite race and national teams. We take that same dedication and bring it to the other professionals on the mountain,†he explained. “I’m excited to be given this challenge to take on this new initiative with an experienced and energized team. To be an entrepreneur starting with a reputable and storied brand is a dream come true. The opportunities for Spyder are limitless,” he said.
The Summyt Division employs a dedicated sales, account management, product and distribution team based in Boulder, Colorado. Shettig’s executive team includes V.P. Sales and Marketing Russ Rowan, Director of Team Sales Andy Templin, and Jeff Burkley as Resort Uniform Sales Representative.
