BLUE HILL, MAINE, USA,February 20, 2013 – The SteriPEN® Ultra, Hydro-Photon’s newest portable UV water purifier, has received the 2013 ISPO Award for the Outdoor category in Munich, Germany.
“The SteriPEN allows athletes to carry less and to perform better by treating their drinking water faster, thus staying healthy and hydrated and in the zone,” says ISPO in their announcement. This was the first year that environmental responsibility was included in the evaluation criteria. By being “reusable for up to 8,000 liters, reducing the need for disposable plastic water bottles,” Ultra makes a significant contribution to sustainability in the outdoors.
ISPO MUNICH’s panel of judges evaluate hundreds of the most exciting and exceptional new sporting goods products each year.
Ultra’s high-contrast OLED screen, which provides real-time user feedback during treatment and USB-recharging to reduce battery waste, were some of the other noted features in ISPO’s announcement.
